Summary
The Yorkshire Rewilding Network (YRN) is a small charity with big ambitions to connect, inspire and enable rewilding across Yorkshire. We seek to engage with and connect rewilders of all types, to share knowledge, experience, stories and the hopefulness that rewilding engenders. The YRN Committee is looking for a network manager who is excited about rewilding to work with us to support the growing network and expand our reach in Yorkshire (and beyond!).
As a network, communication and engagement are a fundamental activity within our charity. With this new role we are looking for someone who is a skilled communicator to help us to engage with rewilders across our various platforms – e.g. newsletters, our discussion forum, social media and in-person events – and to help us engage our volunteer community to support our work.
The role and responsibilities
- Day-to-day lead on implementing network communications including our Rewilding Times newsletter, social media posts, ad-hoc mailshots, promotion of events, WhatsApp groups, website content and our discussion forum on the Mighty Networks platform.
- Help us to create and nurture emerging local networks across Yorkshire.
- Support the committee to develop our communication and engagement strategy for our network, which includes how we can work with both Rewilding Britain and local networks to communicate effectively between multiple organisations.
- Day-to-day lead on content creation. Working with our network to create content which helps to connect and inspire rewilders across Yorkshire, e.g. feature stories, blogs, videos, photography, signposting to resources.
- Grow our diverse network of rewilders and build up our YRN Map of Rewilding Projects through activities such as running YRN information stands, giving presentations, visiting rewilding sites, and engaging with local rewilding hubs.
- Work with committee and volunteers to organise our summer site visit programme and other ad-hoc events.
- Engage our YRN Volunteers to support us in our day-to-day activities such as content creation and fundraising.
- The role requires a mix of working from home and visiting sites and events across the region; we would therefore expect the successful candidate to be comfortable travelling out and about across Yorkshire.
About you
- You have a basic knowledge of what rewilding is and isn’t.
- You are excited about rewilding in Yorkshire, with a curiosity to learn more.
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- You are a confident networker and communicator with the ability to engage with a diverse range of people.
- You are organised and able to prioritise tasks.
- You can manage your own workload effectively to plan and organise work to meet deadlines.
- You value collaboration.
- You have experience of managing social media and content creation.
- You have experience of organising events.
- Many rewilding projects are in rural areas, therefore a full driving licence is essential.
- Experience of using Eventbrite, Mailchimp and SmugMug would be useful.
How to apply
We’re interviewing on a rolling basis until we find the right candidate.
To submit your application please email your CV and a covering letter to info@yorkshirerewildingnetwork.org.uk as soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you!
